FAQ
My payment failed. What do I do?
Retry. If it fails again, wait ~15 minutes and check your wallet — providers sometimes reverse the debit automatically. If the money is still deducted, keep the epay-gateway reference from your SMS and contact the merchant.
I was charged but the merchant says they didn't receive payment.
Send the merchant:
- The epay-gateway reference (starts with letters/digits, appears in your SMS and on the receipt).
- The provider reference (mobile-money transaction ID from your wallet SMS).
The merchant can re-query the payment status via /api/verifyPayment/<reference>. If
the provider confirms the payment, the merchant should honor it.
How do I get a receipt?
At the end of a successful payment, the counter shows a receipt with a QR code. Save a screenshot. You can also re-open the receipt any time by scanning the QR code — it points to a verification URL on the merchant's epay-gateway instance.
Which currencies are supported?
Currently GNF (Guinea) and XOF (Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal). The merchant configures which currencies they accept.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by the merchant, not by epay-gateway. Contact the merchant and provide your epay-gateway reference — they can initiate a refund through their provider.
Is epay-gateway a bank?
No. epay-gateway is a payment gateway — it routes your payment to the actual provider (Orange, MTN, Djomy, etc.). The funds flow between your wallet and the merchant's account; epay-gateway does not hold funds.
